For Ulrikke Toft Simonsen, home is a reflection of both personal expression and everyday life. As an architecture student, she is drawn to interiors that balance visual calm with functionality, creating spaces that are easy to live in while remaining true to her personal taste. Guided by intuition rather than a defined style, she finds inspiration through travel, experiences, and the objects collected along the way. In this conversation, she reflects on the meaning of home, the influence of furniture on daily life, and what drew her to the Turn Chair.

What makes a home, to you?

“My home is a reflection of me. It tells a story about the life i lived and the things that i have aquired along the way, and it also reflects my personal taste and style. On a more practical level, home to me is easy to understand, easy access to things, and especially because i have little kids, it is important for me that it is organized in a way that makes tidying up and cleaning intuitive.”

How does furniture shape the way you live?

“Furniture plays a big part in how we interact with our home. It shapes the way we place ourselves, and the outlook and views we get on the rest of the room, and this is something i think about a lot when choosing furniture and placements in our home.”

What has influenced your personal style?

“I think its a patchwork of my experiences throughout my life, as style has always meant self-expression for me. Travelling is always something i value a lot, and that brings me inspiration, but I dont think i could describe my personal style in a specific direction or “headline”, becuase it is really all about intuition for me when i make design decisions and choose our interior.”

How did you know TAKT was the right fit for your space, and what made you decide to bring the Turn Chair into your home?

“I think TAKT, and the Turn chair specifically, really brings a lot of value to our dining area as it takes its own space in a way that does not dominate and that speaks very well with our bench and the table. I really love the deep blue color for the room, as it makes for some contrast that suits the area really well. We love to host, and The Turn chair also stacks in sets of three which i find super practical and the suits the flexible needs of our household perfectly.”
