At Café Sandø in Christianshavn, Copenhagen, food, music and community come together in a relaxed neighbourhood setting. Surrounded by the canals, historic architecture and lively street life that characterise Christianshavn, the café feels closely connected to its surroundings – informal, local and full of life.
From everyday lunches to long-table dinners, DJ sets and live jazz, Café Sandø is designed as a place to meet, stay and return to. The courtyard extends the café into the neighbourhood, creating a natural gathering point where locals and visitors come together throughout the day and into the evening.
Inside, the warm and welcoming atmosphere continues. TAKT’s Cross Chair in Oak Matt lacquer is used both with and without cognac leather upholstery, bringing natural materials and a tactile expression to the space. Alongside it, the Soft Chair adds another layer of comfort, creating a varied yet coherent setting around the tables.
More than a café, Sandø reflects the social character of Christianshavn. Seasonal cooking, shared tables and changing events bring people together, while considered furniture creates a calm and lasting backdrop – from a quiet morning coffee to long evenings of food, conversation and music.
