When Daniel Guldager and his brother Jacob began welcoming guests in Copenhagen in 2013, their goal was simple: to create a better way to feel at home while travelling.
Today, Daniel & Jacob’s has grown into a family-run business that combines the efficiency of modern hotels with the warmth and individuality of local apartments.
Guided by a belief that comfort, quality and character can coexist, Daniel continues to shape spaces that feel personal, intuitive and true to their surroundings.

What is important to you in an interior design process at Daniel & Jacob’s Apartments?
“Each property we work with is unique – with its own history, location, and architectural character. Our task is to highlight what makes that particular place special. We don’t design according to a fixed formula but aim to create homely, intuitive spaces where guests feel comfortable from the very first moment.”
What does a “typical” creative process look like?
“We always start with the building – its atmosphere, light, and materiality. From there, we build a universe of colors, textures, and furniture that supports the character of the place. We think both aesthetically and practically: the interior should be beautiful but also durable enough to withstand daily use in a hotel environment.
And if we can surprise and inspire the guest, that’s something we always strive for.”
How would you describe your design philosophy?
“We create spaces that feel like home – honest, calm, and functional. Materials should endure and age beautifully over time. Our philosophy is about authenticity: everything should make sense in the long run, aesthetically, functionally, and sustainably.”

What do you look for when choosing furniture?
“Furniture should combine character and durability in equal measure. It needs to withstand hotel use but still radiate warmth and lightness. We choose furniture you want to touch – simple in form, honest in material, and built to last.
Price and quality also have to align. And if the furniture can be delivered assembled and without packaging, that’s naturally an advantage too.”
Can you tell us more about the ‘Daniel & Jacob’s Apartments’ project in Nørrebro?
“The property in Nørrebro is newly renovated and modern, featuring raw surfaces, black steel, and concrete. Therefore, we wanted to introduce lightness and color through the furniture. TAKT’s chairs were a perfect fit – they have a light, honest form and work as color accents that give each apartment its own identity. We wanted to inspire guests and create spaces that feel alive and personal.”

Why was TAKT the right match, and what made you want to collaborate with us?
“TAKT shares our values of aesthetics, function, and responsibility. Their furniture combines quality and lightness in a way that naturally fits into our universe. At the same time, their colors and design language make it possible to create variation without losing coherence.
And their products are reasonably priced.”
Why is interior design such a central part of Daniel & Jacobs?
“The interior design is a key part of both the experience and the sales process. It should create calm, curiosity, and inspiration all at once. We want to give our guests a sense of home, but also an experience they remember or feel inspired by. When everything in the space feels intuitive, homely, playful, and well-considered – that’s when the right feeling hopefully arises.”
