We expect good surroundings – even when we dine at work.
Today, we spend most of our waking hours at the workplace – and the expectations for the environment are high. Just as we prioritize quality, atmosphere and comfort in our homes, we want the same experience when we eat, meet or take a break at work. The importance of beautiful surroundings, high quality and the right atmosphere has never been greater – and office buildings and companies are prioritizing this more than ever. Interior architect Henriette Steenstrup has helped many companies create dining and communal areas, with the aim of fulfilling employees’ wish for a daily life in a comfortable and inspiring environment.

What is important to you in a design process, and what does your typical creative process look like?
“For me, the initial meeting with the client is very significant. Here, we align style, needs, functionality, requirements and budget. I then receive the drawings and can begin with space planning and layouts. In parallel, I create a moodboard that shows the style, atmosphere and colors. The moodboard is an important tool, because it gives the client a clear visual impression of the final result. When the client is satisfied and can picture the interior, the creative process truly begins – the color palette, textiles, furniture, lighting and more must now be selected.”
What excites you most about your work?
“There are many things that excite me in my work, but delivery day is always something special. It is the moment when you see the result of a project that has often occupied you for months – sometimes years. And of course, it is a great joy to see the client being happy.”

What do you look for when choosing furniture?
“Colors and textiles are close to my heart. In the creative process, the selection of colors and textiles is where my expertise truly comes into play. The right interplay between colors and materials is crucial for the whole to feel just right – and I never let go until my gut feeling tells me it is.”
When I work with interior design, I consider many factors: functionality in the room, a well-thought-out layout, the right lighting, the quality and comfort of the furniture – and not least a color palette that ties the room’s elements together.”
Can you tell us more about the project ‘Strandboulevarden 130’?
“The building on Strandboulevarden has undergone an extensive renovation. The façade now appears simple and open, with window sections framed in copper-coloured steel. For me, it was important that there was coherence between the building’s architecture and the interior. The staff restaurant therefore needed to be simple – but in no way cold.”

What made you want to work with TAKT, and why were the Cross Chairs the right match?
“Choosing TAKT’s Cross Chairs was an obvious decision. I have used the wooden chair before and am fond of its simple expression. At the same time, TAKT gave me the opportunity to choose my own frame color and upholstery. I know that the quality is high, and that TAKT has a strong focus on sustainability – two qualities that are highly valued by me, and not least by the client, C.W. Obel Ejendomme.”
