For architect Alberto Reiriz Paz, home is an exercise in coherence – a space where architecture, objects, and everyday life come together to shape a clear and personal identity. Based in Pentevedra in Spain, Alberto approaches interiors with a deep appreciation for timeless design, honest materials, and thoughtful functionality. In this conversation, he reflects on the relationship between furniture and architecture, the values that define his personal style, and why the Soft Lounge Chair became a natural part of his home.

What makes a home, to you?
“For me, a home is an exercise in spatial and narrative coherence. It is a place where architecture, objects, and everyday life come together to build a clear identity. As an architect, I understand the home not only as a container, but as an extension of the way I think and work: a composition where every decision, material, proportion, light, or piece of furniture, responds to an intention.
I am currently developing a new home together with my partner, a process we are approaching almost as a project in itself. Beyond layout or aesthetics, we are interested in building an atmosphere that can evolve with us. In that sense, the people who inhabit it – Lola, my son Martín, and our cats Leo and Chiflin Tomás, are the true driving force that activates the space and gives it meaning.
The project is structured around a shared imaginary that we translate into concrete decisions: a careful selection of materials, characterful pieces, and a very conscious relationship between function and emotion. Ultimately, it is about materializing a way of living, integrating memories, objects, and references into a spatial language that is honest, timeless, and deeply personal.”

How does furniture shape the way you live?
“Furniture directly influences the way I inhabit space. I have always had a rather rational and functional approach to architecture, and that inevitably translates into a way of living as well.
A home is, arguably, where we spend most of our time, and in that context furniture is not a secondary element, but a deeply structuring one. It not only organizes space from a functional perspective, but also defines how it is used, perceived, and experienced on a daily basis.
For me, furniture must establish a coherent dialogue with architecture. There are key pieces that have the ability to articulate the entire space, around which everything else is composed and structured. In this balance, textures, colours, and the subtlety of forms come into play, shaping an atmosphere that goes beyond the purely aesthetic.
Ultimately, furniture directly shapes one’s lifestyle: it harmonizes spaces, brings identity, and at the same time fulfils a functional purpose. It is this combination of use and character that gives the whole its meaning.”
What has influenced your personal style?
“My personal style has been deeply influenced by the analysis and study of architecture, as well as the broader creative universe surrounding it. It is a process that has evolved over time, especially through professional practice, where I have learned to value what truly endures.
I have come to the conviction that good design is, above all, timeless: it has the ability to remain relevant, adapt to different contexts, and transcend passing trends. This is the line I identify with, moving away from overloaded styles, overly ornate solutions, or expressive gestures that seek immediate attention but lack longevity.
For me, true sophistication lies in simplicity. Achieving maximum expression with the minimum gesture is, perhaps, one of the greatest challenges in design, but also the most interesting. This pursuit of synthesis of refinement, is something I apply both to my architectural work and to my broader understanding of style.”

How did you know TAKT was the right fit for your space?
“The first encounter with a piece of furniture is inevitably visual. Aesthetics, proportions, finishes, and colour are what create that initial connection, and in that sense TAKT aligns very naturally with my understanding of design.
Their pieces convey a strong sense of care and precision that is immediately perceptible: there is a clear attention to detail and a level of quality in the finishes that requires no embellishment. It is honest, well-resolved design, where every element has a purpose. At that point, the decision is almost intuitive: it is beautiful, well made, and it simply works.
Beyond aesthetics, what truly reinforces this choice are the underlying values. The commitment to sustainability, understood through transparency and responsibility, adds an essential layer of coherence today. It is not only about introducing a piece into a space, but about doing so in a way that reflects a more conscious approach to living and consumption.
This combination of aesthetics, functionality, and values is what makes TAKT not only fit the space, but also the way it is inhabited.”
What made you decide to bring Soft Lounge Chair into your home?
“It has that timeless quality that does not depend on trends. Its proportions are so well resolved that it works almost as a small architectural gesture within the space: it organizes, accompanies, and brings character without imposing itself. It is a chair that is not only seen, but lived with, and over time it gains even more meaning within the whole.
Its forms are soft, almost welcoming, yet highly precise: every line feels exactly where it should be, without excess or unnecessary gesture.”
